In the case of a merchant who owns an account being processed by a local bank, this issue can get irritating in the long run. What happens is that if merchants encounter problems with the credit card processing, they contact their local bank. If the local bank is a reseller of a credit card processing service, then it will direct the issue to the reseller itself. This can get annoying. Now merchants who have acquired the services of an international merchant account provider tell a different story. More often than not, when they complain, the international bank handles the issue pretty fast. Decide based on your firsthand experience. Or better yet, ask other merchants whether an international merchant account provider will actually make handling issues an easier task than a local provider. This is the best way to get rid of hassles involved in credit card processing. Excellent customer service is the backbone of a well-run business. If your local bank cannot provide it because it merely resells service, then it's time to switch to a provider that offers direct services for payment processing. Not all international merchant account providers do, but it pays to make some research and take the chance.
